At the International Motor Show in Munich, LG Display (LGD) will be showcasing some of its most innovative ideas, including a transparent 55-inch touchscreen display.
This will be made possible by installing a 55-inch Transparent OLED display in place of car windows, which will allow public transportation services to receive entertainment and information. LGD is collaborating with the smart glass technology company Gauzy to bring this vision to fruition. Transparent OLED technology is also expected to be used in a variety of automobiles to replace windows and provide smart and dynamic transparent displays, according to industry experts.
LG Display introduced two 55-inch Transparent OLED displays at the Consumer Electronics Show, each measuring Transparent OLED displays. During the construction of one, an IGU (insulated glass unit) technology is employed, which involves the use of a special tempered glass that is resistant to both impact and vibration. Because of Gauzy's SPD (Suspended Particle Device) Smart Glass technology, the OLED can automatically adjust to different brightness levels and lighting conditions.
Additional to this, transparent OLED screens, along with the development of future Head-Up Displays, have the potential to completely replace all greenhouse glass in situations where both information and a view of the outside are required.
In accordance with LGD, SPD technology allows for the dimming of the Transparent OLED display to any desired opacity, concealing up to 99 percent of light while maintaining high contrast and vibrant colors at all times of the day and night, according to the company. It is able to display future signs that can be found in both the automotive and construction industries thanks to its revolutionary Transparent OLED display technology.
According to Eyal Peso, the company's chief executive officer, the future of displays is already visible today. It is one of Gauzy's primary goals in designing windows to make them active, multifunctional, and capable of providing both visual and thermal comfort while also communicating. It is with the assistance of other technologies, such as transparent OLEDs with SPD by LG Display, that we are establishing a new standard in the signage industry today.
In China, LG Display has been installing Transparent OLED screens on metro trains since the beginning of last year to provide riders with critical information such as subway timetables, transfer information, flight schedules, and breaking news. The screens are available in Beijing and Shenzhen. Japanese overground train operator East Japan Railway Company has been recognized by the Digital Signage Consortium for their efforts in bringing these cutting-edge displays to the country's trains. As a result of their efforts, the company received the Outstanding Performance Award.
This Transparent OLED display from LG Display is already in use in a number of different applications. Seoul's Trade Tower parking lot has recently been outfitted with transparent OLED panels, thanks to a collaboration between Transparent OLED and Kakao Mobility. The panels were installed as part of a collaborative project between the two organizations. Instead of adding to the monotony of an otherwise plain parking garage, these out-of-the-ordinary panels infuse it with a vivacious and contemporary feel.
