Path of Exile's latest Calandra Lake expansion brings new challenge alliances, new Atlas Memory quests, and major overhauls to various systems.

Path of Exile's latest expansion, Calandra Lake, explores the mysterious character Calandra and the lake where she gained her reflexes. Kalandra is the source of the "mirror" item mechanism, where rare Kalandra mirror items can be used to create mirrored versions of devices that flip horizontally. The Kalandra Challenge League is themed around mirrors and reflections, where players face mirrored variants of past encounters. Players will find a set of pillars with a mirrored tablet on top that they can interact with to create a custom set of encounters to tackle at the lake.

The new Atlas Memory quest has been added to the game as core content. Players will occasionally find memory items that represent NPC memories during gameplay. As the player explores that character's memories, each memory in the sequence becomes increasingly difficult and more valuable.

The mechanics of the Archnemesis, Harvest, and Beyond/Scourge alliances have all received major overhauls, rebalanced mechanics, renamed many effects for clarity, updated visuals, adjusted rewards such as POE PC Currency, and changed monsters and bosses generation rate. The new Beyonder monsters now also drop Tainted POE Items, allowing players to modify Path of Exile's damaged gear.

The patch notes for this Path of Exile expansion pack are quite lengthy, covering countless additions and changes in addition to major new features. It's clear that Grind Gear Games continues to be highly committed to improving Path of Exile while preparing for the 2024 release of Path of Exile 2.
