I'm of the opinion that you should always max out when you're able to, but you should not min max when you don't intend to. The only exception to that is that if somebody is min maxing but they are regretful that they're not min maxing, don't think that other people are going to want to play with you when they're min maxing, and I believe that's the main difference. The one thing that causes friction is when those who aren't who are maxing or have a cheap WOW WoTLK Classic Gold min max wish to join a club or join a group of the opposite side.
